Vintage FRENCH ABSINTHE DUCROS FILS RED BAR LIQUOR Poster by Leonetto Cappiello Details
The great reproduction of the vintage French liquor advertising art poster for the controversial "ABSINTHE DUCROS FILS" by Leonetto Cappiello. The alcoholic beverage is now banned in France because of it's hallucenegenic properties. The story of Leonetto Cappiello (b. 1875, d. 1942) is the story of a love affair between an artist and a city. Visiting Paris in 1898 as a young Italian immigrant, Cappiello was so enamored with the City of Light that he quickly became a naturalized citizen. Subsequently, he became the most outstanding posterist to emerge in the period between 1900 and the outbreak of World War I. In a career that spanned over 40 years, he produced an average of two posters a month. It is now estimated that he created over 1,000 designs, not only for French clients but for advertisers all over Europe.
